¿Taza de cerámica o vidrio para tomar café?

Ceramic or glass cup for coffee?

They say that tastes differ, however, there is an explanation for why it is advisable to drink coffee in ceramic instead of glass, especially if it is high temperature (even porcelain).

Both glass and ceramic are ideal for food and drinks because their chemical composition does not alter their flavors; let's talk about cups in particular.

High temperature ceramic mugs, as their material suggests, when manufactured at temperatures between 1200-1300 C, the particles fuse and generate “mechanical resistance” which means that it withstands more impact than a low temperature piece. It is very similar to glass, in fact if you want to distinguish a high temperature piece from a low temperature one, it sounds like crystal, due to the minerals that give rise to the glaze. This does not mean that it does not break, but it is less likely to chip, which is why high temperature ceramic or stoneware is the most recommended for cafes and restaurants.

The property of high-temperature ceramic that allows it to retain the heat of drinks unlike glass is its thermal retention capacity, which allows the heat of the drink to be maintained for longer. Unlike glass, it does not retain heat efficiently, which causes drinks to cool faster in glass cups.

However, you can take into account several factors such as the visual one, which is why some recipes are prepared in glass cups.

And if you have a business or are thinking of starting one related to coffee, ceramics give you a range of possibilities in terms of colors and finishes. It also allows you to make small batches to manufacture your designs and the cost is much more affordable.
